Forestland Investments

Investing in forestland can be very rewarding and profitable. It takes patience, intelligence, and due diligence to find the right property to meet a landowner's many objectives. Once a potential tract is found, paying an appropriate price is also extremely important, especially considering the long time horizons associated with growing, managing, and harvesting trees.

The value of forestland can vary tremendously from one tract to another. Many factors influence timber value including: species/size/quality of timber, accessibility, forestland history, local and regional timber markets, forestland productivity, susceptibility to arson fire or timber theft, tract size, etc.

I offer many services to potential landowners in search of quality forestland for investment purposes. These services include reconnaissance, timber inventory and appraisal, economic analysis, site factors analysis, and deed/record searches.

Here is an example of an economic analysis I completed. It compares an investment in hardwood forestland to other investment types like cropland, pastureland, and the S&P 500 stock index.
